1.The Australian Bushfire.
The 2019–20 Australian bushfire season (Black Summer), a period of bushfires across much of Australia, was considered a megafire due to its unusual intensity, size, duration and uncontrollable dimension.
Its cost is approximately 78-88 billion dollars. The area affected by the fire ranges from 24,300,000 hectares (60,000,000 acres) to 33,800,000 hectares (84,000,000 acres). Due to this, 9,352 buildings, 3,500 houses and 5,852 outbuildings were damaged. And because of this disaster, 34 people died directly and 445 people died indirectly (smoke inhalation).
2.Devastating Floods In Indonesia.
Flash floods have occurred in Jakarta and its capital. January 2020 On the morning of January 1, 400 mm of rainwater overflowed the river.
This is the worst flood in the area since 2020. As of 6 January 2020, officials reported 66 deaths from landslides, hypothermia, drowning and electrocution. Much of the city was left without power as state-owned power company PLN cut off power for security reasons. Rainfall intensity of 340 mm (13 in) per day was the worst flooding in the area since 2007, when 80 people died in 10 days.
3.Hurricane In United States.
This year the United States suffered the most significant natural disasters and the highest economic costs. In addition to the epidemic, a record hurricane took its toll on their economy.
The wildfires caused by the hurricane added up to more than $60 billion in damage. Forest fires are a natural part of the ecosystem, and a warming climate caused by carbon emissions affects the extent of these fires.
4.Volcano Eruption in the Philippines.
Taal Volcano, the second most active volcano in the Philippines, began rumbling in Luzon on January 12, followed by an eruption and ash plumes more than 100 kilometers away.
It last erupted 43 years ago. The volcano left huge ash clouds that caused the evacuation of over 300,000 people. On February 13, the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (NDRRMC) and the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (PHIVOLCS) recorded 2,484 earthquakes in the vicinity of the volcano, and the Philippines is still recovering from the eruption. are suffering and many countries are sending domestic aid.
5.Earthquakes in turkey , The Caribbean , China , Iran, Russia, Philippines & India.
There have been many earthquakes in 2020, each classified as a natural disaster. So far, there have been 45 earthquakes greater than 6 on the Richter scale. Jamaica and Russia were the worst affected by the magnitude 7 earthquake. 41 lives were lost in the earthquake in Turkey.
6.Locust Swarms In East , Africa & parts of India & Asia.
Millions of desert locusts swarm in 5 states of India namely Rajasthan, Gujarat, Punjab, Haryana, Uttar Pradesh and Madhya Pradesh and the video footage is quite scary. The deadly locusts, first detected in East Africa and later in Pakistan, do not affect humans, but they do damage crops. This may be one of the worst pest attacks in more than 2 decades (26 years). Desert locusts are considered the most destructive migratory pests globally and can eat as many as 35,000 people in 1 day per 1 square kilometer swarm. Not only do these insects breed rapidly, there can be as many as 150 million locusts in one square kilometer. They feed on any type of vegetation such as crops, fodder and pasture and can destroy crops in seconds. The sudden increase in locusts has been attributed to climate change. Warming temperatures have made it more habitable for locusts to breed and swarm. Unusually heavy rains and rising temperatures since 2019 are most likely responsible for this attack.
7. Cyclone Amphan In India & Bangladesh.
Cyclone Amphan wreaked havoc in West Bengal and Odisha in May, leaving a trail of destruction. The Meteorological Department called the cyclone an "extremely severe cyclonic storm" that lashed both states with heavy rains, strong winds and lightning, destroying everything in its path and leaving chilling scenes all around. The super cyclone has reportedly killed 12 people in Bengal and affected power supply and telephone networks in the states. Cyclone destroys Asia's largest street book market.
8.Europe Windstorm.
Europe is not only one of the worst affected continents due to the pandemic but also due to natural disasters . Hurricanes Ciara and Alex cost the continent nearly $6 billion and killed 30 people. Worse, such tropical cyclones are expected to hit Europe more often as temperatures rise due to global warming.
9.Floods In India, Japan & China.
Ironically, six of the ten costliest weather events in 2020 occurred in Asia. Most of these disasters were caused by unusually heavy monsoon rains. The months-long floods in China and India cost an estimated $32 billion and $10 billion, respectively. The flood situation was out of hand due to the torrential rains that lashed many parts of Assam. According to the Assam State Disaster Management Authority, 128 villages in Lakhimpur, Dhemaji, Dibrugarh, Darrang and Goalpara districts were affected. Crops and domestic animals are also affected by this.
10.Antarctica Snow Turns Green.
When you think of Antarctica, your mind usually conjures images of an otherworldly space, big white glaciers, penguins. However, parts of the frozen continent are turning green, causing climate change and massive algae blooms. According to research published in the journal Nature Communications, warming temperatures and melting snow on the continent are helping to create algal blooms (rapid increases or accumulations of rapidly expanding algae populations). Many areas are 'green'. In fact, the phenomenon is becoming so prevalent in some places that it can even be seen from space.

1.Hurricane Lane
Hurricane lane was a power full tropical cyclone that brought torrential rainfall and strong winds to Hawaii during late August 2018.The storm was the wettest on record in Hawaii with peak rainfall accumulations of 58 inches (1473mm) along the eastern slopes of Mauna Loa. The twelfth named storm, sixth hurricane, fourth major hurricane and the first of 3 category 5 hurricanes of the record breaking 2018 pacific hurricane season, Lane originated from an area of low pressure that formed well southwest of Mexico on August 13. Tracking west through a region of favorable atmospheric and oceanic conditions. The system steadily intensified over the following days. It reached an initial peak as a category 4 hurricane on august 18. Temporarily inhibited by more hostile conditions, the hurricane weakened slightly before regaining strength and reaching category 5 status on August 22 to the south of Hawaii. Lane peaked with winds of 160mph (255km/h) and a barometric pressure of 926 mbar. Thereafter the hurricane turned north and slowed. During this period, torrential rains battered much of the Hawaiian Islands. Unfavorable conditions again affected the hurricane and it degraded to a tropical depression by August 28 before dissipating the following day.
2.European drought
During the summer of 2022, parts of Europe experienced drought conditions exacerbated by heat waves. The summer of 2022 saw Europe’s worst drought in 500 years. A combination of record-breaking temperatures and low rainfall caused rivers to dry. Wildfires to rage and crop failures to compound already high food prices. This was a crisis caused in large part by climate changes. Warming due to human-caused climate change made this event much more extreme climate attribution studies suggest that the drought was made at least 20 times more likely by global warming. The drought had serious consequences for hydropower generation and the cooling system of nuclear power plants, as the drought reduced the amount of river water available for cooling. Agriculture in Europe was also negatively affected by the drought.
3.Flooding in China
While climate change is causing heavier downpours, the rapid growth of cities further exacerbated flooding by covering up surfaces that could otherwise absorb rain water. In August 2022, flash floods hit Datong Hui and Autonomous country. At least 16 people have been killed and 36 others are missing in Qinghai province. According to CCTV news a sudden rainstorm triggered a land slide that diverted a river. According to Xinhua, more than 120,000 residents have been affected by heavy floods in Sichuan province, causing an estimated 176 million yuan in damages since July 9 2021.Days of torrential rain continued to inundate southwestern China with more likely on the way.
4.Drought in China
Elsewhere the wets of China have been very dry with many areas experiencing extreme drought. Parts of sub-Saharan Africa and the also experiencing critically dry conditions. From June to 31 august 2022 China had a severe heat wavw.it affected several provinces and municipalities and by August, it set several heat records across the country.to date it is the country’s worst heat wave to have existed. The 2022 drought, which mainly impacted China’s Sichuan province, offered an uncomfortable preview of what the future could bring if water supplies continue to run dry: low reservoir levels slashed hydroelectricity output, which in turn forced power rationing to major industrial consumers. Following a record- breaking drought over the summer China is on the brink of a water catastrophe that could have devastating consequences for global food security, energy markets and supply chins.
5.Floods in eastern Australia
The 2022 eastern Australia floods were one of the nation’s worst recorded flood disasters either a series of floods that occurred from February to April in south east Queensland, the wide bay-burnet and parts of coastal new south Wales. Waves of heavy rainfall left vast areas of eastern Australia under water in October 2022.Bythe month’s end, swollen rivers floods landscapes from southern Queensland and new south Wales to northern Victoria. From late February to early April, Australia’s east coast endured 3 intense weather systems that led to record rains and flooding. By the end of the first week in march, southern Queensland and northern new south Wales had each received more than a year’s worth of rainfall in a week. This was Queensland’s worst flooding since 2011.
6.Pakistan floods
From 14 June to October 2022, floods in Pakistan killed 1,739 people and caused Rs.3.2 trillion of damage and Rs 3.3 trillion of economic losses. These temperatures have also made it harder for flood water to be absorbed into the baked hard ground. The 2022 monsoon rainfall in Pakistan is nearly three times higher than the 30-years average and rains and consequent flash floods continued through July and August. It will take months for the water to subside. The immediate causes of the floods were heavier than usual monsoon rains and melting glaciers that followed a severe heat wave both of which are linked to climate changes. The floods were the world’s deadliest flood since the 2020 south Asian floods and described as the worst in the country’s history. On the 25 August Pakistan declared a state of emergency because of the flooding.
7.Storm Eunice
Storm Eunice was an intense extratropical cyclone that was part of the 2021-2022European windstorm season. Eunice set a new record for the fastest wind gust recorded in England with 122 miles per hour at the Needled, Isle of wight. The storm was one of the most powerful to impact the south coast of England since the garrets storm of 1987.the storm caused a huge amount of damage in parts of western, central and Northern Europe; Millions of people were left without power across affected areas and many homes had sustained damage. The UK was particularly hard hit with 1.4 million homes left without power at its peak. Several other countries were struck hard by Eunice with wind damage being mostly the cause of it. Heavy winds damaged parts of buildings and wind gusts in excess of 120 miles per hour were recorded. Eunice caused 17 fatalities and multiple injuries.
8.Drought in Brazil
Southern Brazil experienced severe drought conditions during the 2021-2022 growing season, resulting in harvest failures for crops such as soya, wheat and corn along with an associated increase in inflation. The Parana River basic has suffered an unprecedented drought since 2021, affecting hydropower generation river-borne food shipments and freshwater supplies for 40 million people across Brazil, Argentina and Paraguay unprecedented drought affecting Brazil may be a consequence of the depletion of water vapor from the Amazon basin that normally brings rain to Brazil’s center and southeast regions.
9.Hurricane Fiona
Hurricane Fiona was a large, powerful and destructive category 4 Atlantic hurricane which was the costliest and most intense tropical or post-tropical cyclone to hit Canada on record. The sixth named storm, third hurricane and first major hurricane of the 2022 Atlantic hurricane season, Fiona developed from a tropical wave that emerged from west Africa before developing in to a tropical depression east of the Leeward Island on September 14 2022.on September 15 2022 it was assigned the name Fiona, even though dry air and moderate to strong wind shear were still impacting the system. On September 16,2022 Fiona passed over Guadeloupe as it entered the Caribbean Sea, where atmospheric conditions improved and strengthened into a hurricane as it approached Puerto Rico two days later. A few hours afterward the eye of Fiona made landfall along the southwestern coast of Puerto Rico, near Punta Tocon between the Lajas and Cabo Rojo according to the national hurricane center. As the storm after undergoing eyewall replacement cycles reached peak 1-minute sustained winds of 130mph and a minimum pressure of 932mb. After fluctuating between category 3 and 4 intensities as it passed Bermuda, Fiona quickly transitioned into a large and powerful extratropical cyclone and struck Nova Scotia with 105mph (169km/h) winds and minimum pressure of 931 mb early on September 24. Fiona then quickly weakened as it moved through the Gulf of St. Lawrence and moved back over the northwestern Atlantic. The remnants then dissipated over Basin Bay to the west of Greenland on September28. This Photo by Unknown Author is licensed under CC BY-SA
